Tea after midnight

The New York Times reports on the status of various elements of the Tea Party. 2014 may turn out to be a disaster for the Republicans – a lot of moderate Republicans in 2012 simply didn’t turn out to vote because their candidates were too extreme – the same could be still true in 2014. If the Tea Party tries even harder to oust members of the House they deem not conservative enough, they will nominate even more unelectable nut cases.

Thus, in 2014 we’ll have a Democratic Congress and Presidency. If the party doesn’t move  too far to the left, they’ll have the incumbent advantage in 2016.

If I were Obama, I’d put off any important legislation that won’t get House support until 2014. The more extreme the reaction of Republicans, the better the Democrats will do in 2014.
