It’s late and you should go to bed

If you have too many cable channels, you’ll come across Moonstruck, a bitter-sweet romantic comedy from the 1980s. Everything about it should say “80s superficiality” – from the main actors, Cher and Nick Cage, to the occasional disco music.

Roger Ebert explains its enduring charms . What I’d forgotten is that it’s a Norman Jewison film – a great Canadian director who excels at Hollywood, but makes it substantial.
